Three historic Black Montgomery County churches will jointly screen “The Three Lynchings” film for their congregations on August 25, 2022 at 7:30 pm.

Working together with the Montgomery County Lynching Memorial Project, the three churches are Jerusalem-Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Clinton AME Zion (which is mentioned in the film) and Mount Calvary Baptist.

Following the screening, pastors of the three churches will hold online discussions with members of their congregations.

The film documents the three known lynchings that occurred in Montgomery County between 1880 and 1896.  Using news accounts from the time, land records and other archival materials, the movie unearths the details of the three incidents, long missing from county historical accounts.
